How to say “Thank you” in Brazilian Portuguese
Obrigado / Obrigada
oh-bree-GAH-doo / oh-bree-GAH-dah
Literally: obligedneutral
The ending agrees with the speaker, not the listener: men say "obrigado", women say "obrigada". In casual Brazilian speech it often shrinks to "brigado/brigada".
