How to say “Cheers” in Georgian

გაუმარჯოს

gaumarjos

Literally: victory to (it/them)neutral

The toast word, usually after naming what you drink to: 'to friendship, gaumarjos!'. At a supra (feast) a tamada (toastmaster) leads long, heartfelt toasts, and alaverdi hands the toast to another guest. Wine toasts are drunk to the bottom, but toasting with beer has traditionally been reserved for enemies, so avoid it at formal meals.
