What matters in a Greek reading app

Greek's alphabet is learnable in days and the accent mark shows stress, but nouns and verbs inflect heavily. A tool that glosses the actual form you meet — not just the dictionary entry — and adds transliteration at first makes early reading practical.

Questions

What is the best app to learn Greek by reading?

It depends on your level and what you want to read. For a complete beginner who wants a story written for their level, ReadNative’s Aesop's Fables starts at A1 and is free. To import and read your own Greek content with audio, LingQ supports Greek. If audio on everything matters most, look at LingQ, Beelinguapp.

Is there a free app to read Greek?

Yes: Aesop's Fables is free in ReadNative and readable here in your browser (44 chapters online); LingQ, Beelinguapp, Clozemaster also start free.

Does Ancient Greek help with Modern Greek?

Partly: the alphabet and many roots carry over, but grammar and pronunciation changed a lot. For reading modern texts, learn Modern Greek; our Aesop book is retold in modern language.
