What matters in a Armenian reading app

Armenian has its own 38-letter alphabet and, for English speakers, almost no graded reading material. The most useful help is romanization while the letters become familiar, and story text pitched for beginners — there's little else at that level.

Questions

What is the best app to learn Armenian by reading?

It depends on your level and what you want to read. For a complete beginner who wants a story written for their level, ReadNative’s David of Sassoun starts at A1 and is free. To import and read your own Armenian content with audio, LingQ supports Armenian. If audio on everything matters most, look at LingQ.

Is there a free app to read Armenian?

Yes: David of Sassoun is free in ReadNative and readable here in your browser (42 chapters online); LingQ, Clozemaster also start free.

Eastern or Western Armenian?

They share the alphabet but differ in pronunciation, some grammar and spelling conventions. Eastern Armenian is the standard of the Republic of Armenia; Western Armenian is used across much of the diaspora. Choose the one your people or plans need.
